Next Knife Fair

At The Midland Game Fair on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September 2014

This year there will be one Knife Collectors Fair in the UK. There will be knives of all types, including old collectable knives, new factory knives from all over the world, and fantasy knives. Additionally, some of the best makers of superb hand made knives in this country have stalls selling their knives, and taking individual orders for knives made to customerís requirements.

Location - The Midland Game Fair

The Knife Fair is part of The Midland Game & Country Sports Fair, which is held at Weston Park, near Shifnal, Shropshire TF11 8LE, and is now in its 32nd year. This very popular and successful event last year attracted more than 89,000 people. In 2014, it is being held on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September and, once again, a Knife Collectors Fair will be organised at the event.

For several years now the Knife Fair has been held in a marquee next to the Antiques marquee, and this lay out works very well, so in 2014 it will be exactly the same. The marquee is situated near the centre of the showground. Directions to the showground can be found from this Google Map.

Further details on the Midlands Game & Country Sports Fair are available from the organiser's website.

The Knife Collectors Fair

The Knife Collectors stalls are for people selling knives, either old or new, or associated accessories, books etc. Last year most people reported lots of interest, and many had satisfactory sales. Each stall will consist of 1 or more trestle tables, each 6ft long. The total depth of each stall will be 6ft. There may be room to add a paste table or card table to each stall, so stallholders are welcome to bring some with them. However, the aisles must be kept well clear for the general public. Cars and caravans belonging to stallholders can be parked near the marquee.

There will be sufficient power for 120 watts per 6ft length of stall. Please bring extension cables etc. if you wish to illuminate your stock. NB The power supply will not be powerful enough for kettles or heaters, so please do not use these or similar items.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Fair is open to the public from 8 a.m. until about 6 p.m. Dealers are asked to have their stalls ready by 8 a.m. and not to start packing up before 6 p.m. Any dealers who have not arrived by 10 a.m. on either day will have their stalls given to other dealers.

Setting Up

Dealers who wish to, can set up their stall between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday 19th. On the Saturday and Sunday, the marquee will be opened at 6 a.m. specifically for dealers to set up. Parking for stallholders will be adjacent to the marquee.

The organisers of the Game Fair employ a security firm to secure the area on both Friday and Saturday nights. The marquee will also be closed at about 7 p.m. on both evenings. PDAF Ltd will ensure that somebody reliable remains in the marquee throughout Friday and Saturday nights. Thus, there will be a certain level of security and you may, if you wish, leave stock on your stall overnight. However, neither the Game Fair organisers nor PDAF Ltd can accept any responsibility for the theft of, or damage to, dealers stock.

Booking A Stall

A 6ft stall for 2 days will be £129, a 12ft stall will be £231, an 18ft stall will be £300, a 24ft stall will be £374, and a 30ft stall will be £446. To keep the cost of a stall as low as possible these charges do not include any chairs, so dealers should remember to bring your own with you. Stallholders are asked to send a cheque for the full amount with their completed booking form dated 1st September. All bookings will be acknowledged in writing and 2 exhibitor-passes will be sent nearer the date of the Fair.

The organiser has Public Liability Insurance and it imposes a rule that all stallholders have to have their own public liability insurance, and indeed most already have it. If you need it, the National Market Traders Federation, Tel 01226 749021 provide it at very competitive rates. Further details on their website.
